LAW The term is a translation of the term ADAT Recht. The term Indigenous Recht was first put forward by Dr. Christian Snouck Hurgronye in his book "De Atjehers" (1893-1894). Furthermore, the term used by Prof. Indigenous Recht. Dr. Cornellis van Vollenhoven as a term in the science of law in his book:
1. Adatrecht het van Nederland Indie (Volume I to III) (1901-1933);
2. Adatwetboekje voor een heel Indie (1910);
3. De ontdekking van het Adatrecht (1928).
Furthermore, the term Indigenous Recht officially is in the Stb. Jo 1929-221 487 which came into effect from January 1, 1929.
In the West there are also experts who use other terms, such as:
